Public Consultation on Electronic Games Registration Put on Hold

September 10, 2026

On September 10, 2026, the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BRPTO) announced the suspension of Public Consultation No. 2/2026 with no set date for its return. The Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) will now revise the text before reopening the consultation.

The initiative was originally launched to gather public input on regulating electronic game registrations. Currently, the BRPTO lacks normative instruments or administrative rules capable of enabling, in a clear, predictable, and legally secure manner, the granting of electronic game registrations by the BRPTO.

Following MDIC’s revision, the BRPTO will inform a new deadline for the submission of comments.
