Silvia Boechat
Telecommunications EngineerSilvia Boechat has extensive experience in Intellectual Property, with a distinguished career built in leading IP law firms in Brazil. She is widely recognized for her strategic expertise in patents and technological innovation. Her professional journey combines deep technical knowledge, international perspective, and strong relationships with companies and foreign law firms.
Silvia began her career as an intern at the largest Intellectual Property group in Latin America, where she spent nearly 14 years consolidating her technical and strategic foundation. During this period, she also married and welcomed two children, balancing personal milestones with professional growth.
In 2012, after completing her postgraduate studies, she was invited to join another well-established IP firm founded in 1940. Over the course of nearly six years, she assumed a key leadership role, overseeing multidisciplinary teams and contributing significantly to the firm’s strategic growth.
In 2018, Silvia was invited to co-lead the patent team alongside Ana Carolina Corrêa at a newly established law firm. Their joint leadership proved so effective that, in just over five years, the firm had already positioned itself among the leading players in the patent market. As the practice grew, Silvia expanded her role to oversee the Mechanical, Information and Communication Technology, and Data Intelligence teams, later structuring and consolidating the ICT division into a robust and strategic unit.
In 2026, driven by a vision to offer agile, cost-effective, high-level IP solutions after two decades of proven excellence, she founded COBO IP with Ana.
Silvia’s solid expertise in the prosecution of patents, industrial designs, trademarks, and computer programs before the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) has enabled her to develop a distinctive, strategic, and client-focused approach. She is dedicated to delivering tailored and innovative solutions, ensuring that each client benefits from protection strategies aligned with their business objectives and technological advancements.
Throughout her career, Silvia has participated in national and international events and conferences, delivered webinars and training sessions.

Academic Background & Affiliations
Silvia holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), along with a Postgraduate degree in Intellectual Property Law from PUC-Rio. To further deepen her multidisciplinary perspective on innovation and legal strategy, she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at UniLaSalle.
She is an active member of leading national and international associations, including ABAPI and AIPLA.
